The drive from Marrakech to Zagora covers approximately 360 km (224 miles) and takes around 6 to 7 hours, depending on road conditions, so an early wake up is a must.the driver will meet you at your hotel or riad if outside the medina. This journey takes you through the stunning High Atlas Mountains, with the Tichka Pass offering breathtaking views at an elevation of 2,260 meters above sea level.
The route passes by Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site famous for its ancient kasbahs and as a filming location for many movies like Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia. After exploring Ait Ben Haddou and having a delicious lunch , you’ll continue toward Zagora, where the landscape transitions to the desert.
Upon reaching Zagora, you can experience a camel ride into the desert, where the temperatures can vary greatly based on the season. In the summer, the evenings are warm, while in winter, they can be quite chilly. At night, you'll enjoy the tranquility of the desert under a starry sky, with the Milky Way visible on clear nights.
The journey begins by attending the sunrise to admire spectacular moment before you enter to take breakfast, after that you will be heading back to marrakech, passing through the Draa Valley, known for its palm groves and Berber villages. As you drive, you'll notice the landscape gradually shifting from the desert to more fertile, mountainous terrain.
The route takes you through Ouarzazate, a city known as the "Gateway to the Sahara" and famous for its film studios and kasbah of taourirt. After exploring Ouarzazate, you'll continue toward Tichka Pass, where you'll be treated once again to breathtaking views of the High Atlas Mountains.
Get back to Marrakech by the afternoon .
